The Drottningholm Palace Theatre (Drottningholms Slottsteater) on Lovön outside Stockholm is a unique 1700s theater—the best preserved in the world—with an advanced machinery that enables decor changes during the performance w/ trapdoors, moving waves, light machinery, wind & thunder machinery. Every summer opera & music is performed to large crowds. The repertoire is opera & ballet from the 1600s–1700s. The performances are played with period instruments of baroque type.

Britta Byström (1977) is one of Sweden’s most gifted composing talents. She has written opera, choral works and chamber music, but her home ground is orchestral music. The result has been a long succession of original orchestral works and solo concertos written for young, striking Nordic soloists such as the trumpeter Tine Thing Helseth and the violist Ellen Nisbeth. Her orchestral works have been performed by a number of prominent Nordic orchestras like the Royal Philharmonic in Stockholm.
