Ottoman saddle, 16th century, wood, bone, leather, textile, polychromy, H. 11 3/4 in. (); L. 20 1/2 in. (); Wt. 9 lb. 3 oz. (4167 g). This saddle is the only known Ottoman example of its type. The use of pierced leather decoration appliquéd on different colored grounds occurs on a small number of Ottoman objects such as bow cases, quivers, canteens of the 16th century.
