Photographer Boza Ivanovic traveled in more than sixty zoos around the world to photograph sublime black and white portraits of animals, which he gathers in his project entitled “Zoo Portraits”. Chicago based photographer C. Owen Lavoie – better known as C. Owens – has captured these extremely dramatic high contrast images of animals in her series entitled Trophies. Lurking beneath shadows, the taxidermied animals are majestic and mysterious. Lavoie states, “The animals emerge from a large black void that symbolizes death and forces us to imagine their missing bodies”.
