‘Staging Disorder’ an exhibition of photography, sound and moving image at the University of the Arts, London. The exhibition includes selected images from seven photographic series that were made independently of each other in the first decade of the new millennium and explore the contemporary representation of the real in relation to photography, architecture and modern conflict. The Weight of Knowledge’, his new exhibition which opened in New York earlier this week. The exhibition features meticulously composed images of books. Richly nuanced in their use of colour and what the artist has called the "perfect imperfection" of daylight, these images give us the book as objet d'art without stripping it of its textual status. Irish photographer Darek Fortas has a body of work which has received great acclaim in addition to a number of industry prizes and shortlist credits. Recently he was announced as the winner of the Prix de la Photo Camera Clara 2014 for ‘Changing Rooms’, his project undertaken between 2011 and 2013 which focuses on miners’ changing rooms in Upper Silesia, Poland and aims to draw attention to the cultural and socio-political dimension of industrial architecture.
