Bible Devotion - Psalm 45: A poem to the king (possibly Solomon) on the occasion of his wedding. This psalm is also seen as a prophecy about Christ and his bride, the church. Author: The Sons of Korah (temple assistants) This is called Messianic psalm because it prophetically describes the Messiah's future relationship to the church, his body of believers. The church is described as the bride of Christ. Verses I highlighted: Psalm 45:6 http://bible.com/111/psa.45.6.niv

Isaiah 30:15NIV “This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it." Note: * God warned Judah that turning to Egypt and other nations for military might could not save them. Only God could do that. They must wait for him in "quietness and trust". Salvation comes from God alone. Because he has saved us, we can trust him.

Isaiah 21:11-12 “A prophecy against Dumah: Someone calls to me from Seir, “Watchman, what is left of the night? Watchman, what is left of the night?” The watchman replies, “Morning is coming, but also the night. If you would ask, then ask; and come back yet again.” Note: *Dumah, or Edom, had been a constant enemy of God's people. They rejoiced when Israel fell to the Assyrians sealing their doom. Seir was another name for Edom. Obadiah foretells, in great detail, the destruction of Edom.

Philemon: Paul pleads on behalf of Onesimus, a runaway slave. As Paul interceded for a slave, so Christ intercedes for us, slaves to sin. As Onesimus was reconciled to Philemon, so we are reconciled to God through Christ. As Paul offered to pay the depths of a slave, so Christ paid our debt of sin. Like Onesimus, we must return to God our master and serve him. Verse I highlighted: Philemon 1:9 http://bible.com/111/phm.1.9.niv
