The Spirit of the Birch by Arthur Ketchum - American poet. I am the dancer of the wood -- I shimmer in the solitude; Men call me Birch Tree, yet I know, In other days it was not so. I am a Dryad slim and white, Who danced too long one summer night, And the Dawn found and prisoned me! Captive I moan my liberty. But let the wood wind flutes begin, Their elfin music, faint and thin, I sway, I bend, retreat, advance, And evermore -- I dance! I dance!
-Rainbow Eucaliptus-the unique multi-hued bark is the most distinctive feature of the tree. Patches of outer bark are shed annually at differant times, showing a bright Green inner bark. This then darkens and matures to give Blue, Purple, Orange and then maroon tones.
I love these trees! Original pinner said: Beautiful Rainbow Eucalyptus Tree, Hanani and I saw these in Maui and thought they were painted this way, we later found that its just one of the amazing natural wonders Hawaii has to offer.
