A young woman in Peru. Repinned by Elizabeth VanBuskirk. (Probably she is from Chahuaytire, above Piscac where women weave beautiful beaded jakimas (narrow woven bands) for their hats). See another girl from Chahuaytire below.
Pisac Market, Peru. Repinned by Elizabeth VanBuskirk. If those at the market have brought corn to trade or sell, you know they live in the lowlands, like the river valley near Pisac. One major purpose of Andean markets is for people who live at the high altitudes--eg 12,000 above sea level can come to market to trade their potatoes, which can be grown high up, for lower products like vegetables, fruit, corn.
