Figurative Language;Hyperbole."With all my heart,' Lina sighed. 'More than I love myself'"(Alvarez22).This is a hyperbole because she is over exaggerating about her love for Trujillo. In this part of the story, Minerva is narrating what Lina does with Trujillo, and then asks her that question. What she chose to say shows how she feels for Trujillo.
the book in the time of the butterflies is generalized by having every character somewhat relatable to everyday life.there is the Good Witch of the Mirabal sisters and the bad which is Trujillo and the SIM.this is generalized because in almost every story there is good fighting bad.however this book took it to a new level there are many twists and turns yet it is still somewhat generalized with the good and the bad idea.
Characteristic •Minerva Mirabal Did- -Advocated to go off to college -Leads the revolution against Trujillo -Slaps the dictator when he is getting too close Thought- - "For one thing, my nose was always in a book." (Julia,pg.84) Said- - "I want to go to go to university,papá, please."(Julia, pg.84) In conclusion, Minerva is a very strong and well educated leader.
CTC STEP FIVE Dede Mirabal is a dynamic character. This is because from the start of the story she was very afraid to stand up for herself. She avoided confrontation, always laughed. But throughout the story as she goes through hardships and difficult times, she turns into a woman that would do anything for her family. She joins the revolution for her sister, become this woman who ends up being very courageous.
CTC STEP TWO "I will never forget the terror on Dede's face. How she reached for my hand. How, when we were asked to identify ourselves, what she said was- I will never forget this- she said, "My name is Minerva Mirabal." (Alvarez 277). Dede's actions show that she is loyal to her family.
