JAMES CASTLE (1899-1977) | UNTITLED | NO DATE | Although Castle did not know about the art world outside of his small community, his work ran parallel to the development of 20th Century art history. Castle's work entered the international arena with a major exhibition in Madrid, Spain at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in 2011 and is included in the 2013 Venice Biennale exhibition The Encyclopedic Palace.

Organized by the Philadelphia Museum of Art and now on display at the Art Institute, here in Chicago, James Castle: A Retrospective is an exhibit that would be a shame to miss. Lynne Cook of Artfo.
