A JAPANESE FAIRY FROM FAIRY-LAND JAPAN Ca.1920 by an unknown photographer. Probably a TAKARAZUKA GIRL, if she had been born only 30 years earlier, she might have become a talented Geisha. Of course, as flickr poster Muiz Anwar points out below, she is a BEE, and not a "Fairy"
Theatre costume, Tosca, 1923. Lotte Lehmann as Tosca and Jan Kiepura as her lover Cavaradossi were considered to be the dream couple of opera in the 1920s. This robe of extraordinary quality dating from 1923 is in a remarkably good condition, even though Lotte Lehmann wore it on many tours. Richly embroidered with coral pearls and in delicate colors, it is timelessly elegant.
