Etched Glass - Flea-market finds and dollar-a-glass specials can be transformed with monograms, stripes, and whimsical polka dots. All you need is etching cream (available at craft and art-supply stores), masking tape, and a steady hand to cut a template. I've done this with contact paper as well. So easy.
Glittered Snowflake Garland: Festoon your living room in garlands of shimmering snowflakes. To make flakes sparkle, apply spray adhesive (parents only) or dab gently with a sponge-tipped glue applicator, then sprinkle with glitter. Shake off excess; let dry; thread onto satin ribbon. Affix to mantelpiece or walls with poster putty.
How-To: Draw a few flakes, between 2 and 8 inches across, in pencil on sheets of loose-leaf paper; these will serve as templates. Slide a template under a sheer organza tablecloth; trace its lines in craft glue (use a fine-tipped applicator). Remove template. Sprinkle glue with silver glitter. Let dry. Shake off excess glitter. Remember: Craft glue is water soluble, so the cloth can't be washed.
glass etching. I now know what my family will be getting for Christmas. Etched wine glasses, of course.
