Porton Man... The Ministry of Defence has unveiled the latest recruit in the military's fight against chemical warfare: a £1.1m robot. The animatronic mannequin - christened Porton Man - is the most advanced replacement soldier to date and is being used to test biological protective suits to guard against nerve agents like Sarin. Inspired by a combination of film and TV robotics and Formula 1 technology, the robot can mimic a soldier's body movement - even to the point of sighting a weapon.
