I've used pocket doors for small spaces like powder rooms, & laundry rooms & closets. Make sure that smaller nails or hangers are used to hang things on the walls in front of the hidden door pocket.

Trade a standard door for a sliding pocket door to gain additional floor space once reserved for the door swing. Bifold doors (doors that fold up like a screen) can also save space. In our small master bath, we can use the double sliding door, leaving enough room to put the niche in the shower area.
