Army PFC William B. Dawson, 20, of Tunica, Mississippi. Died September 24, 2010, serving during Operation Enduring Freedom. Assigned to 17th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 3rd Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, Fort Richardson, Alaska. Died of injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle during combat convoy operations at COP Carwile, Afgfhanistan.
Army PFC William R. Newgard, 20, of Arlington Heights, Illinois. Died December 29, 2006, serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Assigned to 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Schweinfurt, Germany. Died of injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle during combat operations in Baghdad, Iraq.
Valor awards for PFC William F. Leonard (1913-1985) US Army. Medal of Honor (posthumously) for acts of gallantry and intrepidity above and beyond the call of duty....during combat operations against an armed enemy near St. Die, France on 7 November 1944. PFC Leonard was originally awarded the Distinguished Service Cross which was upgraded to the CMOH in 2014. He had also been awarded a Bronze Star Medal.
