Today we take you back to 1971, to see what Schaefer Air Service looked like years ago at Van Nuys Airport! This leader in emergency medical service flew the first FAA certified air ambulance in the United States decades ago. Don't you love all the history here? If you're into films or film history, here's a terrific resource on the history of colour film-making. It's the work of Barbara Flueckiger at the University of Zurich. I may just spend the whole weekend immersed in this, starting with the landmark photo by James Clerk Maxwell (1861) of a tartan ribbon.
Photographer Marc Bushelle, who's also the proud father of his subject, Lily, created this photo series, called "The Heroines Project," because he both wanted to spend quality family time with his wife and daughter and teach his daughter about strong heroines in history. Here's Lily looking smart as Nobel Prize winner Toni Morrison.
