The Master and Margarita - Complicite at the Barbican, 27 March 2012. Ambition gains my admiration but not necessarily my adoration. Complicite - i think - are the only company who could have contemplated tackling this epic novel. And whilst there was some stunning moments (and brill acting from Angus Wright and Paul Rhys in particular) not everything worked. A lot of ideas and text could have been cut, and i'm not sure 190 minutes was sustainable. Interesting pitch though. 3 elephants out…
