Mother-of-groom ensemble (dress, jacket, hat), Whitney, Chicago, 1910. Embroidered silk chiffon, satin, soutache braid. Portrait neckline of dress framed by bands of embroidery; space filled in with lace & net. Inner sleeves of same lace. Chiffon layer drapes over shoulders and comes together at waist where 3 braided satin rosettes catch fabric on left side. Chiffon layer ends at knee with band of embroidery. Gray satin train extends from back waist of under-layer. Chicago History Museum
