"Abar: Black Superman (aka Abar, The First Black Superman, and In Your Face). From 1977, the film follows the tale of Dr. Kincade (J. Walter Smith) and his family, African-Americans who move to a rich white neighbourhood and, of course, are treated bitterly. Whites protest, throw garbage in their yard, and make quick and regular use of racial epithets.
Uptown Saturday Night (1974) PG104 minutes Sidney Poitier and Bill Cosby team up in this hilarious misadventure as buddies Steve and Wardell, who head uptown to a swanky nightclub. Unfortunately, thieves hit the club and steal Steve's wallet -- which happens to hold a winning lottery ticket. Poitier also directed this classic 1970s comedy, which co-stars Harry Belafonte as Godfather figure Geechie Dan Beauford and Richard Pryor as bumbling gumshoe Shape Eye Washington.
