    My youngest did this as a homework science experiment in kindergarten. It was pretty neat - another pinner said - this is totally genius. And not just for kids! This is what happens when you microwave a bar of Ivory soap! Then you can tear it up, color it, and mold it into shapes! Its not wet and messy, either! This is awesome!

Science behind Ivory Soap in the Microwave { this almost makes me wish we had a microwave}

Great rainy day activity to entertain kiddos. Find out what happens when you microwave soap!

Ivory soap - You may recall that Ivory soap floats in water. The reason for that is that unlike other soap, it has a a bunch of air whipped into it. This is important because when you microwave it, all those tiny air bubbles expand and make your soap look like this

Fluffy Bath Paint, using the microwaved ivory soap bar (see fun stuff for the kiddos)

We did this today and the kids loved it because it looks like snow! Cut Ivory soap in 4, microwave for 30 seconds each.
