Commemorating the singing of fifty birds, once heard in central Sydney, before they were gradually forced out of the city by European settlement. 'Forgotten Songs', an installation by Michael Thomas Hill. The birds' calls filter down from a canopy of birdcages suspended above Angel Place, and change as day shifts to night.

Temporary installation in Sydney's Angel Place - 2009. Artist Michael Thomas Hill created "Forgotten Songs", an installation of 110 empty birdcages suspended above the ground that also contained an audio element that gave the sound of 50 or so birds that used to exist in the area prior to industrialization.

Have a birdcage similar to this style that needs repainting. It's offwhite right now. Love this color! I see a lot of spray painting in my future!!
