Food, Energy, Finance: A Solutions Movement Takes Root in Northern California--"Something is stirring in northern California and it feels a lot like the future—not the Android kind, and definitely not the Wall Street kind, but a more abundant, collective form of wealth that’s being generated in a community whose new energy, food and economic systems seem to be falling in sync."

What I notice is the type of food institutionalized hunger relief agencies offer is what I call, 'Dumbing Down Food'. The kind of food that makes one feel lethargic and listless, white flours, white rice, near dead produce; the list is long. We can develop direct relationships between the farms and the pantries. We can also come up with a plan for schools to 'opt out' of USDA food programs in order that our children be fed healthy foods.

"This week's infographic, courtesy of Feeding America and Upworthy, expands on last week's theme, disparities in diet-related diseases in NYC, to illustrate the growing problem of hunger in America."

To achieve our vision of a hunger-free America, we must build partnerships across the public and private sectors. No other organization or individual can do more to help put food on the table for people in need than our federal government. Feeding America works to educate elected officials about the impact of food insecurity in their communities and identify and advance policy solutions to put struggling families on the road to healthy, hunger-free lives. http://bit.ly/StrikeOutHunger
National Poverty exists in America, although it may not be as noticeable, it exists. One out of 6 Americans lives in a food insecure household which puts many at risk of chronic diseases, higher levels of aggression and anxiety, and leaves many slower at developing social skills. This puts our economy at risk, without a strong and healthy working class, our economy will crumble. Those who are fortunate, should help those don't have as much; by offering up skills they have to teach others.

There are many things in this world that make no sense to me. Including child hunger; when someone spends there money on clothes, cars, and vacations when there are small helpless children dying of hunger. I just don't get it.

BB: Child Hunger Infographic that shows how children are affected in disasters throughout history. It also details how you provide meals to hungry children.
This was absolutely devastating to see. Most individuals think that illness, disease, or war is what amounts to large numbers of deaths. In which case, it is somewhat true. However, the major concern in developing countries is the lack of nutrition and food supply. Sub-Saharan Africa has the second highest food shortage and malnourished children in the world. Something that needs to be fixed and has a solution.

Google Maps has released an infographic that details how those in the U.S. and across the Northern Hemisphere traveled from May to September 2012. National parks occupied the top six spots on the list — with the Grand Canyon surprisingly coming it only at no. 6 — followed by the Empire State Building (no. 7), Myrtle Beach (no. 8), Niagara Falls (no. 9) and Times Square (no. 10)
great graphs for students to interpret and compare
