Every teen should read this book. It was deeply moving to me when I read it in my youth. From Publishers Weekly - "This startling new edition of Dutch Jewish teenager Anne Frank's classic diary written in an Amsterdam warehouse, where for two years she hid from the Nazis with her family and friends contains approximately 30% more material than the original 1947 edition." Worth Reading, Books Worth, Reading List, Diaries, Anne Frank, Young Girls
Part of the story is based in 1942 France and part in current times. I love historical novels. This one will not disappoint.

Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay - This book alternates between the past & the present. The past part is really intriguing. The bits revolving about what's currently going on in the present didn't really seem to fit to me & kind of bored me.
Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay I will never forget this story. It haunts me still.
Sarah's Key. Haunting. It has also been made into a movie.

A book of the writings from the Dutch language diary kept by Anne Frank while she was in hiding for two years with her family during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. The family was apprehended in 1944 and Anne Frank ultimately died of typhus in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. The diary was retrieved by Miep Gies, who gave it to Anne's father, Otto Frank, the only known survivor of the family. The diary has now been published in more than 60 different languages.

The Diary of a Young Girl - One of the most discussed victims of the Holocaust. Born in Germany, lost her citizenship in 1941, lived rest of her short life in Amsterdam. renowned for her diary of the time she and hr family were hidden in Amsterdam
The Diary of a Young Girl http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/48855.The_Diary_of_a_Young_Girl
The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank. This is one of the most famous documents about World War II through the eyes of a young Jewish girl. This was banned due to objectionable passages which included sexually explicit and homosexual themes. A Virginia elementary school removed all copies of the diary. This fantastic book should be read as it was written due to the eyewitness account of the oppressed in WWII, not to mention that children can relate to Anne who is their age.
The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank. Courageous girl! Courageous jewish people!

"Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl" by Anne Frank. I've read this many, many times and loved it more with each reading.
The Diary of a Young Girl "Anne Frank" // Discovered in the attic in which she spent the last years of her life, Anne Frank's remarkable diary has since become a world classic—a powerful reminder of the horrors of war and an eloquent testament to the human spirit. In 1942, with Nazis occupying Holland, a thirteen-year-old Jewish girl and her family fled their home in Amsterdam and went into hiding.
The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank, an extraordinary writer with an extraordinary story.

The Help. A recent book club selection. It was an incredible read...I laughed, I cried...literally. The emotional attachment I felt to the characters was amazing. It's unbelievable that this is the author's first novel. FYI, while the movie was good in it's own right, there really is no comparison: The book is BETTER! (no surprise there!)

I'm not about hunting but I appreciate the story. I stopped watching just before the sad part..it's such a tear jerker and I wasn't in the mood to cry like a baby.

'The Innocents' by Francesca Segal: As he prepares for his wedding to Rachel Gilbert, the girl he has been with for twelve years, Adam Newman begins to question everything when Rachel's fiercely independent and beautiful young cousin moves home from New York.
The Innocents, Francesca Segal. Pinner writes: "Inspired by Edith Warton's The Age of Innocence, highlights a young man's commitment to his first love and the complications that arise when he's tempted by another. In a small, tight-knit Jewish suburb of London, a young man's pre-wedding panic illuminates the universal conflict between responsibility and passion."
Inspired by Edith Wharton's Age of Innocence, this novel transports the reader into a fully realized foreign world and makes characters who act selfishly or thoughtlessly without always understanding why engaging and sympathetic. Very well written. The author successfully used Wharton as inspiration and then created her own unique story.
The Innocents, by Francesca Segal, is based on The Age of Innocence, by Edith Wharton. Read my comparison review at http://riofriotex.blogspot.com/2012/08/291-292-2012-36-37-age-of-innocence.html#
The Innocents | This book is reminiscent of the Edith Wharton classic, while remaining it's own story. Really lovely writing that captures a time, place and culture.
Deceit and betrayal abound in this tale by first-time novelist Francesca Segal. Drawing upon Edith Wharton’s 1921 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Age of Innocence, Segal spins a tale of upper-middle class London Jews behaving badly.
