youngfirstlady: “She was what we in Texas called ‘a man’s woman.’ She didn’t seem to crave the company of other females.” — From Love Field: Our Finals Hours With President John F. Kennedy by Nellie Connally and Mickey Herskowitz
At her 1953 wedding reception, Jackie Kennedy dances with her new father-in-law, Joseph P. Kennedy. Jackie and JFK's father would become close over the years. Her own father, Jack Bouvier, missed her wedding ceremony completely after getting drunk in his hotel room (stepfather Hugh Auchincloss walked Jackie down the aisle).
Dedicated: JFK and his wife Jackie hold hands as they meet with delegates in 1962. Previously unreleased interviews have revealed she begged her husband not to send her to safety during the Cuban Missile Crisis that year.
