MARLENA SHAW. Born: Sept 22, 1942 in New York, USA. Jazz, Blues & Soul singer who began her singing career in the 1960s and is still singing today. Her music has often been sampled in hip hop music, and used in television commercials. Shaw began to make singing appearances in jazz clubs whenever she could spare the time. Shaw still performs and records today, in 2001 & 2007 she was one of the performers at the North Sea Jazz Festival in the Netherlands.

ETTA JAMES R.I.P. (January 25, 1938 - January 20, 2012) Winner of six Grammys and 17 Blues Music Awards. Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1993, the Blues Hall of Fame in 2001, and the Grammy Hall of Fame in both 1999 and 2008. Ranked number 22 on Rolling Stone's list of 100 Greatest Singers of All Time and number 62 on the list of the 100 Greatest Artists.
