I've had a fascination with circus sideshows and carnies ever since I was a little kid. No idea why either...

When I was 5, I got lost at the circus on my birthday. I can remember a big crush of people leaving at the end of the circus, and somehow I just got swept away in the crowd. All sorts of circus performers were walking through the crowd, calling my name, and I wasn't frightened at all. Clowns, trapeze artists and acrobats stood at all the exits, looking for me. I thought it was very exciting. My parents were not quite so thrilled. It seems very surreal to me now - rescued by circus clowns.
