A rare and beautiful type of algae called marimo grows in some lakes in Japan’s northern island of Hokkaido. Marimo forms soft green globes that sit in clusters on the lake bottom.

Absolutely spectacular shot of lenticular clouds over the Sandwich islands. Also known as altocumulus standing lenticularis, these are stationary, lens-shaped clouds that form at high altitudes. They are included in the middle layer cloud family because the bases of the clouds are stationed between ~ 2,000 - 7,000 meters. These clouds form when moist air is forced to flow up around mountains and large hills. The water is super cooled and condensed from air below the dew point temperature....

Unbelievable....Austrias Green Lake in the Hochschwab Mountains is a hiking trail in the winter. The snow melts in early summer and creates a completely clear lake. The lake has a grassy bottom, complete with underwater trails, park benches, and bridges.
