The event was a benefit to raise funds to redecorate the Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) House in San Fernando. This plaque was given to prospective buyers by land developers on the opening day of land sales in Owensmouth. The new town was named Owensmouth in anticipation of the water being brought from the Owens Valley via the Los Angeles Aqueduct. In 1931, the town was renamed Canoga Park. West Valley Museum. In response to growing discontent on campus and following two consecutive days of violence, acting President Delmar T. Oviatt declared a state of emergency on the San Fernando Valley State College (now CSUN) campus in January 1969. The order was typed in all upper-case letters and instructs that "anyone who cannot present proper identification will be asked to leave the campus. Unauthorized persons will be subject to arrest." Veterans are twice as likely to become chronically homeless as other Americans. This is due, in part, to veterans’ heightened risk of unemployment, foreclosure and poverty.
