This book does a wonderful job at communicating the importance of sharing. One fish in the ocean has beautiful, shiny scales. Other fish in the ocean ask if they could have just one small shiny scale, but the rainbow fish doesn’t share. Because of this he loses his friends and to get them back he learns sharing is a good thing. I would read this in grades ranging from first to third. Sharing is the most obvious concept, but many art projects can be done after reading this story.
