Apparently if you ask for help around the house (dusting, folding clothes) because you're 'too busy and really need your help' it's good. Makes people feel wanted to be helping.

I can still smell our laundry hanging in the sunshine, bleached white, with blueing added for extra whiteness. I hear the squeak of the clothesline reel, the fluttering of clothes in the prairie breeze...and yes, the hum and grind of our old wringer washer. Laundry was an all-day event. Ironing was on Tuesday.

A common sight, here. Almost every home in Australia has a clothes line and mine is no exception. Most Australians hang their clothes to dry in the warm Aussie sunshine and fresh air instead of using a dryer. Definitely takes adjusting to, when you're used to throwing all of your laundry into the dryer! -yia

Reminds me of my precious Grandma, and the promise of a sunny day with a slight breeze. On such an occasion out we would go into her garden, with her battered old straw basket in hand that housed schools of lovely large wooden pegs. Quietly in unison we would hang her washing out as we anticipated the day to come.
