Homemade Fruit Syrup: After looking at the ingredients for store bought syrup I wanted to find a way to make our own for our french toast or waffles. This recipe is a simple sugar syrup to which fruit is added, no chemicals or HFCS. Combine 1/2 c granulated sugar, 1 T cornstarch, 1/2 c water, 1 c berries and/or fruit. Do in this order: Whisk sugar & cornstarch together in a heavy saucepan. Add water. Cook syrup until it bubbles & thickens. Remove from heat. Stir in fruit/berries.
