Homemade Lotion Bars! Recipe for Lip Balm Too. Use coconut and olive oil.

  • Teresa Klein

Homemade Lotion Bars and Lip Balm: made with only coconut oil, olive oil, beeswax & essential oil. (Blogger's original recipe was crisco and veggie oil BUT in the comments, she says she made it with CO and OO and it turned out beautifully. So, use same recipe but sub in CO & OO.) None of the yucky chemicals, parabens, formaldehyde, petroleum, etc. that you'll find in store-bought lotions and absorbs into the skin wonderfully. Bonus: no plastic bottle packaging.

Homemade Lotion Bars (2 Recipes!) Note: Use coconut and olive oil and PLEASE don't microwave your products. I never understood why ppl who are organic and choose a healthier lifestyle would continue to radiate their food and products they use on themselves. Radiation is just as dangerous (or more) than the ingredients you are trying to avoid.

Microwawe is dangerous only if you enter it or you stay very close when it's on. Microwawes make the water molecule oscillate.

    good point Lucia!

That's not the entire explanation of what happens. This article explains it more thoroughly than I can get into in this little comment box. Essentially, if it's not good to microwave our food, then it would be equally as unhealthy to microwave the products we put onto skin as well. I know people want to hold onto their modern conveniences, and to each his own...I just hope they are doing all the appropriate research before taking a side. http://www.naturalnews.com/...

From this point of view you are right, probably there is not enough research in this field. I will look for more scientific papers. I'm not expert in microwaves because my specialization in ionizing radiation so I also don't know precisely. Keep you updated if I find something interesting. :)

I would love to read more Lucia. Thank you! :)

Super, super cute home made lip gloss idea. I'm not sure how expensive the candy flavorings are, so it might be a bit pricey to try and do more than one or two flavors, but you can always experiment with a new one each month. :)

  • Astrid Quander

Hey we use the something. I found the same flavoring at my local walmart on clearance.

I use those oils for hard candy. I can usually find them for less than two dollars per dram.

I just made this with Gain fabric softner and my house smells fabulous!! Im taking it to my friends thrift shop tommorow to freshen up all the used clothing!!

  • Margaret McCreath

I made this and found it really great. But it is also very good for spraying under the arms of clothes made in some fabrics that tend to go smelly very easily. I make mine with cuddly and it has a beautiful perfume. Thanks for a great idea.

Thanks Brandy I will try it .
