Knife Handle portion of a leather sheath with an iron whittle tang knife (now detached); part of knife handle remains inside the sheath. The blade portion of the sheath is missing. The handle portion has impressed decoration in the form of leaves and birds on the front and undulating lines on the back. There is a centre back seam with edge/grain stitch holes. Four suspension slots at the back and sides.  Production Date: Late Medieval; 14th-15th century

The foliage is enhanced with impressed dots, possibly a scrolling vine. There are traces of red paint on the decorated surfaces. There is a side seam with edge/grain stitch holes. There are four suspension slots towards the opposite side to the seam. The sheath has a rather blunt, rounded end. Late 14th-15th century | Museum of London
