For this piece we selected a classic scooped moulding which we added some extra depth to and then painted off-white. The painting was then double mounted and a matching blue sidewall was used to set the piece back from the glass, the glass itself was ‘invisible’ Artglass which removes 99% of the reflections. The end result is really spectacular and would look wonderful hung in a traditional or contemporary setting.
These beautiful paintings of the Rollright Stones are by Mandy Selhurst. We framed a set of three in these hand painted white frames for Mandy and they are now hanging in the SOTA gallery in Witney. I'd imagine they'll sell very quickly so head over to SOTA and take a look at them before they're snapped up. You can find out more about Mandy’s work at http://www.mandyselhurst.com …and more about the SOTA Gallery here http://www.sotagallery.co.uk
Here is the first of the large painted frames we were working on last week. A scooped classic moulding, with a small inner frame to hold the canvas has been painted with Farrow & Ball Off-White (03). The addition of a bright red sidewall to match the poppies adds an extra punch and sets off a very colourful painting beautifully.
Here we have a beautiful print by Darren Woodhead. I really like the way the customer chose to frame this, with an elegant double mount, simple waxed oak frame and 'invisible' Artglass. It's given the framing a very gentle, natural feel that perfectly compliments the artwork. You can find out more about Darren and his work at http://darrenwoodhead.com/
Here is a piece by a customer of ours who makes these amazing collages commemorating her family members birthdays, anniversaries etc. Framed in these rich, ornate silver frames, with double mounting on the main image and a single mount opening for a small dedication at the bottom they make a wonderful gift for the recipient and an amazing record of memories to be treasured.
Eric Ravilious was a fabulous artist and here's a print by him we had in for framing last week. This is a wonderful example of his work and we've used a delicious Mantilla frame, double mount and Artglass to present it beautifully. The Mantilla range of frames has been proving very popular of late, it comes in Black, Gold, Silver and Ivory and has a gorgeous satin finish that adds a luxury touch to those special pieces of artwork.
‘Autumn Leaves’ Limited edition print by Graham here at the Cuckoo’s Nest. Floated in a limed oak frame with colour matched sidewall. Print overall frame size Artist Proof. available in the shop now
These are cards from a wife to her husband, lovely pictures on the front, tender messages inside that should be kept. We've used simple thin black frames and floated the cards within them. Then we took the messages from the inside of the cards, laminated them and stuck them to the rear of the frame. Beautiful pictures now on your wall, with a beautiful message on the back.
A couple of new frames for local artist Maureen Gillespie. A gorgeous gold frame and simple mount for one of her prints and an elegant black wooden frame for this lovely little painting of a boy leading his horse from the stables. You can find for of Maureen's work here... http://www.artbymaureengillespie.co.uk
Another of the large frames, this time we've used a beautiful Ivory Mantilla frame with a natural canvas slip. Both echo the sandy colours and calm feel of the painting.
Here we have a lovely pastel drawing of two greyhounds with a wonderful sense of movement to it. We’ve used a double mount and classic black wooden frame to give a bold and unfussy look that sets off the subtle monochrome colour of the piece.
Another frame using the black Mantilla frame, this time housing a wonderful warm photo of a French town. The detail in this picture is superb, you could look into it for hours and the overall effect is so vibrant. A double mount finishes it all off. Gorgeous :-)
Another beautiful reflective piece of artwork here. This time on paper, so we've floated it over a grey mount, the frame is a lovely Silver/Green colour and we've used invisible glass to minimise reflections.
Here are a couple of gorgeous posters from the Supernormal Festival that we've framed up today. We used a slim black frame with silver highlights and floated the posters over a white background. Each frame then had brightly coloured sidewalls to match the artwork and the frames were finished with UV glass to protect posters.
Some more of the musical memorabilia we framed the other day. This time a couple of LP’s…For you youngsters out there, LP’s were downloads you had to pick up from a shop….We’ve floated both LP’s inside the frames, one with a white sidewall, one with a red one…As a little side note, the Steve Forbert LP is fantastic…:)
The customer for this piece is a carpenter by trade and gave us a free hand on the framing, so we had to select a nice piece of oak for the frame and do something a bit special with it. We opted to use a button polish to finish the wood, this is a type of French Polish and has given the wood this glorious warm colour, inside we used a double mount and the top mount has been floated to give a shadow effect. UV glass finishes the piece off, protecting the artwork.
