Martha Stewart Living, July 2012 Prep Time 15 minutes Total Time 45 minutes Yield Makes 4 1/2 cups Serves 6 Add to Shopping List Ingredients 1 cup sugar 2 cups grated English cucumber (about 1 cucumber), plus cucumber wedges, for garnish 9 ounces vodka, chilled 12 ounces cranberry juice (no sugar added) 1/2 cup fresh lime juice (from about 4 limes) Ice, for serving Directions Bring sugar and 1 cup water to a boil in a small pot. Reduce heat, and simmer, stirring until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat, stir in grated cucumber, and let cool. Pour through a fine sieve into a bowl or large glass measuring cup, and discard solids (you should have 2 cups syrup). Cucumber syrup can be refrigerated up to 3 days. Combine cucumber syrup, vodka, and cranberry and lime juices in a 2-quart pitcher. Cocktail can be refrigerated up to 8 hours. Serve over ice, and garnish with cucumber wedges.

    Pomegranate & Purple Basil Gin Smash: 1 bunch of purple basil, 3-4 tbs. of pomegranate seeds, 2 oz. gin, 1 oz. simple syrup, 1/2 oz lemon juice. Place all ingredients in a shaker and smash pomegrante seeds and basil with a muddler. Add ice and shake until shaker is almost too cold to hold. Pour and serve.

    Sparkling Holiday Mimosa: In a cocktail shaker, combine orange juice, amaretto, and vodka. Stir to combine. Pour about 11/2 tablespoons Cranberry Simple Syrup into a chilled glass filled with ice. Add orange juice mixture. Add frozen cranberries, then add sparkling wine. Garnish with orange twist, if desired. Serve immediately.

    White Cranberry Spritzer: Combine cranberry juice, sugar, rosemary, and 12 mint leaves in a small saucepan; bring to a boil. Remove from heat; cool to room temperature. Strain juice mixture through a sieve into a bowl; discard solids. Stir in lime juice; cover and refrigerate. 2. Combine juice mixture, club soda, and rum in a large pitcher; stir well to combine. Serve mixture over crushed ice. Serve immediately.

    Christmas Grapefruit & Rosemary Cocktail: In a cocktail shaker, muddle together ice and rosemary. Add grapefruit slice, and muddle again. Pour vodka and seltzer water over muddled grapefruit mixture. Strain into a glass. Serve with ice, if desired. Garnish with a grapefruit slice and a rosemary sprig, if desired.
