Shibari - According to the oldest tradition of the Edo period (1600-1868), a well-established association between colors (blue, red, white, black), seasons, directions, and the four Chinese guards of the four directions (the dragon, phoenix, tiger and turtle). Rope color changes with the season, and the prisoner was positioned in the right direction, based on color and season. At the end of Edo, the colors were reduced to two, white and indigo.
