Georges Sand - Musee de la Vie Romantique - Paris.Amantine Lucile Aurore Dupin, best known by her pseudonym George Sand, was a remarkable woman - a prodigious novelist, dramatist and campaigner for all manner of political reform. A rebellious, cross-dressing, cigar-smoking, scandalously-acting woman writer who lived at a time that was certainly much more of a man's world than today.

<3 <3 George Sand, 'La Petite Fadette', 1849. This is a cover from the Livre De Poche edition. This novel was the subject of the my French honours thesis submitted in 2012. What touched me the most about it was the quality of Sylvinet's renunciative love for Fadette and his brother Landry. The subject of Grace has attracted me the whole of my adult life.

"The old woman I shall become will be quite different from the woman I am now. Another 'I' is beginning and so far I have not had to complain of her." ~ George Sand
George Sand (1804-1876) embodied a capacity for prodigious output and passionate living, with a penchant for drama in her everyday life (not the least of which were her countless romantic entanglements).
Faith is an excitement and an enthusiasm: it is a condition of intellectual magnificence to which we must cling as to a treasure, and not squander on our way through life in the small coin of empty words, or in exact and priggish argument. -George Sand
