The Grenville Jewel, British, ca.1635-1640. A richly enamelled gold locket set with emeralds, rubies, and diamonds in rubbed-in settings and claw-set opals. The locket contains the miniature portrait of the Royalist hero, Sir Bevil Grenville, who was killed whilst leading the Cornish army at the Battle of Lansdown in 1643.
