New Mexico - Blue Hole. Visit the crystal-clear artesian spring and scuba-diving site located on old Route 66. The swimming spot offers a year-round water temperature of 64°F and visibility up to 80 feet in optimal conditions, and it houses various fish species within its colorful limestone walls.
At Cuervo New Mexico, the westbound Route 66 traveler has two choices. You can either hop onto Interstate 40 for the drive into Santa Rosa, or attempt an early alignment of Route 66, that cuts southwest from town. The second choice is a dirt road, and in EZ-66, author Jerry McClanahan says it's not recommended.
