Full of Grace and Truth: St. Makarios of Corinth, the island of Patmos, and his miraculous Icon

St. John the Evangelist (aka St. John The Apostle) is traditionally considered the author of the Fourth Gospel, three New Testament letters and the Book of Revelation. His Gospel is a very personal account. He sees the glorious and divine Jesus already in the incidents of his mortal life. At the Last Supper, John’s Jesus speaks as if he were already in heaven. It is the Gospel of Jesus’ glory.

The Seven Churches of Revelation are seven major churches of Early Christianity, as mentioned in the New Testament Book of Revelation and written to by John the Apostle. In Revelation, on the Greek island of Patmos, Jesus Christ instructs his servant John to: "Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, and to Smyrna, and to Pergamos, and to Thyatira, and to Sardis, and to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea."

The Cave of the Apocalypse is situated between the villages of Skala and Chora on the island of Patmos in Greece. It is in this cave that Christians believe St. John the Theologian saw Christ and visions of "fire and brimstone" that John dictated to his disciple, Prochoros, in what is known today as the Book of Revelation.

Patmos Greece. I loved this beautiful, colorful island . It is of historical significance because John wrote the books of revelations in a cave that is part of a monastery that you can visit.

The Pantheon, Rome, Italy - commissioned by Marcus Agrippa as a temple to all the gods of ancient Rome. The building is circular with a portico of large granite Corinthian columns (eight in the first rank and two groups of four behind) under a pediment. It features a central opening (oculus) to the sky. Almost 2,000 years after it was built, the Pantheon's dome is still the world's largest unreinforced concrete dome
