Sixteen-year-old Prince Philip, 2nd from right, at the funeral of his sister, Princess Cecilie of Hesse and by Rhine, and her family who were all killed in a plane crash in 1937. Note the Nazi salutes in the crowd. Cecilie, like all of Philip's sisters, was married to a German prince who supported Hitler. For that reason Philip's 3 surviving sisters were not invited to his 1947 wedding to the daughter of the British king.

Little Alice went on to marry Andrew of Greece and Denmark and became the mother of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh and consort of Queen Elizabeth II.
