you buy a house and can't afford upgrades: Change out your builder grade brass shower trim using Rustoleum's Oil Rubbed Bronze spray paint ... what would cost you $800 to replace, will only cost you $5 to paint. Holds up well with the water because it is indoor/outdoor paint..... (Pinner says: I also did this with my light fixtures when we moved into our house)

The Wonder of Spray Paint My cousin Erika posted this great idea on her Facebook page: She took Rustoleum Oil Rubbed Bronze spray paint to the brass knobs in her house. GREAT IDEA! I am already buzzing with different applications to use it on…hardware, knobs, pulls, light fixtures, lamps, frames… and how about those chrome builders grade bathroom fixtures ?… the list could go on and on…

Update from ssanke: The key to making the finish on your spray-painted hardware durable is to sand/rough up every surface before spraying with Rustoleum Oil Rubbed Bronze. (Best I've found for updating hardware.) Also, it's best to do several LIGHT coats or you will get drips. Let dry COMPLETELY before re-installing. I replaced many of my standard knobs with "the real deal" but I did this for larger, more costly handlesets. It's holding up great on our back door which gets *heavy* use.
