Banoffee Pie...I love the TV show Come Dine with Me on BBC. This is the dessert most featured when contestants are trying to win. I've made this a couple of times now when I want to really knock someone's socks off with dessert. Rich and delicious. I sure do love it...so do my hips...but I can replace those...caramel toffee, banana's, whip creamed and a hint of chocolate...yes, yes...
Eagle Brand - Sweet Condensed Milk (which when boiled in the can for 8 hours) produces a thick caramel. Do NOT let the boiling water go below the level of the can or it will explode! It's a mess you will never forget. Use your crockpot, on HIGH, 8 hours of boiling. Cool before opening or it will explode then, too! In other words, make it a day in advance, let it get to room temperature.
pie in jars! made this with my mom once but with a different recipe..it was awesome! Some say, if you put the canning lid on the jar immediately after taking it out of the oven it will seal the jar. ill have to try that!
Spread snickers on bottom of pie crust. Next layer the apples next. Then drizzle caramel on top. Combine cool whip, cream cheese and sweetened condensed milk together in a small bowl and spread on top. Drizzle with caramel and a few snickers. Place in refrigerator for at least 2 hours. Take out about 5 minutes before serving and top with fresh apple slices..
