Imogen Cunningham - Alfred Stieglitz | From a unique collection of portrait photography at

  • Maryam Arif

Alfred Stieglitz (1864 – 1946) was an American photographer. Stieglitz gained fame for both his photography and his writing about photography’s place in relation to painting and other art. While other photographers were creating Pictorial views of the world and images that “represented” art, Alfred captured clean “straight” images that were simply meant to be art itself, pioneering the idea that a photo should be about the subject, moment, and artist’s vision.
