John Unger adopted his dog Schoep when he was a puppy. Today Schoep is 19 years old and has Arthritis. He's in pain and can't sleep. His owner John, trying to find a solution to his pain, discovered that the water from the lake helps relax Schoep, so every night he takes him for a swim in the lake so he can get some sleep. The photo was captured by Hannah Stonehouse Hudson, who wanted to portray the unlimited love this owner has for his dog
John Unger cradling his dog Schoep, in Lake Superior. Schoep is 19 and has arthritis that prevents him from sleeping. John carries Schoep to Lake Superior and cradles him in his arms until Schoep falls asleep. John credits Schoep for saving his life and now John does all he can for Schoep. I could cry. this story was so touching.
"Schoep, a 19-year-old arthritic dog is being cradled in his father's arms in Lake Superior. Schoep falls asleep every night when he is carried into the lake. The buoyancy of the water soothes his arthritic bones. Lake Superior is very warm right now, so the temp of the water is perfect. John rescued Schoep as an 8 month old puppy, and he's been by his side through many adventures." Love is love.
Hippos. (KO) A clutch of hippos hanging out in a group in a river. Hippos are so cute that people don't realize how dangerous they are. They are responsible for many human deaths every year! They turn over small boats that come near their herds and kill the occupants. Very grumpy critters! But to be fair, they have babies in this herd. A small boat could kill a baby. I'd get ugly, too, if they came near my teeny hippolet!
For the past 6 years, a German shepherd called Capitán has slept next to the grave of his owner every night at 6pm. His owner, Miguel Guzmán died in 2006. Capitán, the dog, disappeared while the family attended the funeral services. A week later relatives of Guzmán were visiting the cemetery when they were astounded to find the dog next to the owner’s grave. The cemetery director says that the dog comes around each night at 6pm, and has done so for the past 6 years.
