An alternative to just putting the sand in a jar.

Personalized unity sand set. You can make this as symbol of blending your families you can do six colors that each of you pours in during the ceremony.

Sand Ceremony Symbolism It represents the individual lives of the bride and groom. They have retained their unique identities and personalities. Yet, it is virtually impossible to define the exact point where one layer ends and the next begins -- the grains of sand can never be separated. Strong and beautiful representation of the "two becoming one" concept that has resonated with couples all over the world. YES

Cool Take on the Unity Candle/Sand Pouring: Taking Soil From the Parents' Homes and Planting a Tree w/ It...but I would probably end up killing the tree :(

Shadowbox - neat idea to preserve bouquet, boutonniere and invitation.

Loving the sand ceremony idea

I love this idea! This is a great alternative to a guest book because you actually get to see the faces of your guests, as well as what they write for you!

Modernize It! Instead of mixing colored sands in a jar, this couple mixed paint on a canvas during their ceremony. This is how you change a tradition and make it your own! I love this! But maybe add a monogram in tape, and tear the tape off after the paint dries???----- love this idea just to have around the house

Our handwritten vows will be framed side by side so I can keep them and remember what we promised one another :) There is also a knot tied at the bottom with the date.

The maid of honor could put this together. Have the mother of the bride, mother in law, bridesmaids, and friends of the bride write letters to the bride, then put them in a book so she can read them while getting ready the day of. The last page can be a letter from the groom. I hope my bridesmaids are this awesome

Unity in Glass. They ship you glass crystals to mix for the ceremony (like unity sand), you send them back, they make a sculpture out of it. Would be cool to also get the heart paperweights for each set of parents.
