Italian Venetian painted bombe chest sold by Greenwich Living ($2,100) features a charming Venetian design painted on a white background. The chest features a lovely distressed crackle finish and fine hand-painted floral detail on a cream ground. The serpentine top rests on a narrow frieze fitted with two small drawers over two larger drawers. The drawers have oak secondaries raised on cabriole legs.
Louis XV commode circa 1760. A commode was a type of two drawer chest that legs were added to and became an indispensable must have for the 18th century home. Often designed to fit in a special place within a room this is a fantastic example with its marble top and scrollwork and inlay called marquetry.
