Tied Together Open floor plans present a decorating challenge: balancing the need to unite spaces while giving each zone a distinct vibe. Try tying spaces together with a soft accent color. Here, a soft blue from the living room's ottoman and throw pillows flows perfectly onto the stools lining the kitchen's breakfast bar.
Create Clear Traffic Paths Arrange furniture to direct traffic around the conversation core rather than through it. In this small living room, the sofa marks the beginning of the seating space. Traffic coming in from the door is directed to go on either side of the sofa, rather than directly through the conversation area.
by Martyn Lawrence-Bullard Design- love all the frabrics on the couch- especially the blue velvet and the combo of colors
I like the basket next idea for next to the rocking chair. Maybe it could be where the cat and dog toys could live. A cover would make it a great hidden storage and it would be in easier reach for us to play with them. If it was strong enough we could sit on it and it would double as a place to put on your shoes when going out the door.
The key to this bedroom's fresh vibe is an eclectic mix of traditional and modern prints that don't take themselves too seriously: www.bhg.com/...
