    Cast Iron Cleaning: Use nonmetallic scrubber to remove the rust. Wash with a mild dish soap, rinse & dry with towel. Re-season surface by coating with unsalted vegetable shortening. Put greased skillet upside down on a foil covered baking sheet & bake at 350° for 1 hour. Cool & remove excess grease with paper towel. To prevent rust never soak cast iron in water, put it in the dishwasher, or scrub with metal scouring pads or harsh cleansers.

Never soak skillet in water, put in dishwasher, or scrub with harsh scouring pads or cleansers. Paper plate, paper towel, or coffee filter between stored pans absorbs moisture.
