Nichiren was a Buddhist monk who lived during the Kamakura period in Japan. Nichiren taught devotion to the Lotus Sutra — which contained Gautama Buddha's teachings towards the end of his life — as the exclusive means to attain enlightenment. Wikipedia

When he was praying to Kyokuzo Bodhisattva, she appeared in front of him and gave him a crystal of the wisdom.
