By the time it was discovered to be a false alarm, 1400 shells had been fired, and 5 civilians were dead (3 in auto accidents, and 2 of heart attacks.) The official explanation: "...this was either a practice raid, or a raid to throw a scare into 2,000,000 people, or a mistaken identity raid, or a raid to lay a political foundation to take away Southern California's war industries."

The US Military attempts to shoot down a glowing orb. Deploys 1400 rounds of 50 caliber anti aircraft yet fails to shoot it down. The object appears to be the shape of the traditional flying saucer.
